Facilities & Equipment
The facility occupies approximately 6500 square feet of office and classroom space located in downtown Wheaton, Md. The facility is air conditioned, well lighted and ventilated and is convenient to public transportation. The Wheaton Metro station is directly next to the building. Ample parking is available.
There are three classrooms, 3 administrative offices, a reception area, a medical lab, a Nursing Assistant lab, a Massage Therapy lab and computer lab, a small kitchen, toilet and shower. Additional restrooms are located on the same floor. The Nursing Assistant lab is equipped with hospital beds and all equipment and materials the students will be required to learn how to use. One room is set up as a practice lab with 2 hospital beds, a Hoyer lift, scales, storage cabinets, wheelchairs and mannequins. The classrooms have 20 tablet arm chairs, a teacher’s desk, blackboard and a TV and VCR. The Medical Assistant program has a lab containing all the equipment students will be required to use in the back office of a doctor’s office or medical clinic. Equipment includes microscopes, an EKG machine, centrifuge, autoclave and medical exam table. There is also a computer lab with 20 computer stations. The Massage Therapy Lab has 10 Massage Tables and a separate room with 2 Massage Stations.

Student Services
Counseling and tutoring are available to all students. Job placement assistance is provided to all graduates of the program. Although the school does not guarantee placement, every effort is made to assist the graduates in attaining full time, permanent employment in their field of study. Study sessions for review prior to taking the State Examinations are also available to all students. |

Student Grievance Procedure
Any student wishing to file a grievance must do so in writing and submit such to the school director. A record of any grievance will be maintained on file by the school. The school director will respond to any grievance in writing within 15 business days. If the student feels that the school has not responded to their grievance in a satisfactory manner, the student may also file a grievance with the Maryland Higher Education Commission at 16 Francis Street, Annapolis, MD. 21401-1781 or call the Commission at 410-974-2971. Program Performance
Students and prospective students may obtain from the Maryland Higher Education Commission information regarding the performance of the Nursing Assistant and medical Assistant programs offered at Americare. Information available includes completion and placement rates as well as pass rates for Americare graduates on the State Competency evaluations. Certification Requirements
Nursing Assistants are required to be certified in the state that they are working. To be certified, students must pass a state approved training program and the state competency evaluations. Upon passing the state competency evaluations, students will be placed on the state registry for Nursing Assistants and receive certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing. The fee to take the state competency evaluations is $86.00. Once passed students must pay $20.00 to receive their certification from the state.

Application for Readmission
Any student that drops the program or is terminated from the program may reapply for admission. Application for readmission may not be submitted before thirty days from the last day of attendance. Anyone reapplying must meet all entrance requirements before being accepted. If a student restarts within 60 days of their last day of attendance they will be credited for all monies paid and for the portion of the program they successfully completed prior to dropping or their termination. Students who are accepted for readmission but start more than 60 days from their last day of attendance, must retake the entire program and pay the full tuition price.
